What is Couples Therapy?
Couples therapy, also known as marriage counseling or relationship counseling, is a type of psychotherapy designed for partners to improve their relationships. It is a process through which a couple (who may be engaged, dating, married, partnered or sometimes even parent and child or other pairings) works with a trained therapist to identify specific areas of conflict and/or aspects of their relationship they would like to change, and then develop a plan of action to improve each individual’s satisfaction and contentment.
It provides a safe, neutral environment for couples to openly discuss their concerns and challenges with the help of a trained therapist. Whether the issues stem from communication breakdowns, intimacy concerns, parenting disagreements, or external stresses, therapy provides valuable tools to heal, reconnect, and foster a lasting bond.
Couples Therapy Can Bring You and Your Partner Together. Couples therapy works by helping couples identify and better navigate their unique challenges.
Following an initial assessment of the couple in terms of strengths and needs, the therapist would then discuss their therapeutic goals and any possible approaches or ways of working together as therapist and couple.
Each couple is unique, so we tailor our approach to meet your specific needs, focusing on practical strategies that align with your values and goals.

Some couples see significant improvements in just a few sessions, while others may benefit from ongoing therapy over several months. Our therapists will work with you to establish a timeline that works best for your situation.

Even if you aren’t experiencing relationship problems, therapy offers a valuable opportunity to spend dedicated time with your partner, without the distractions we so often experience here in Florida. Together, you can foster a deeper understanding of each other and equip yourselves for a loving, connected future.

Although working with a couple’s therapist does involve communicating and talking to your partner, having a partner who is an introvert or who tends to be quiet is not unusual. The fact that he or she has committed to improving the relationship and attending the sessions is what is needed for counseling to be beneficial.
